Weekly reset routines have become popular on social media in recent years. I’ve started implementing the following things in my own weekly reset routine and think you should too! All of these things prepare me for the week ahead and ensure the following six days are as low-stress as possible. By taking one day a week to focus on resetting a few areas of my life, I’ve been more productive and able to keep my house tidy. Taking care of these things weekly ensures nothing begins to pile up and out of my control!

Catch Up On Laundry
Clothing/towels/bedding can really pile up during the week. Use this opportunity to empty your baskets. You’ll have fresh outfits to wear all through the coming week. Don’t forget to wash your sheets! Climbing into a clean bed after a weekly reset day is the perfect way to relax before starting a new week. Bonus points if you decide to wash some of the smaller rugs (like the ones in the bathroom) and refresh them using essential oils or a scent booster.
A great way to speed up this process every week is to keep your laundry sorted throughout the last seven days so you can just empty them in without sorting through things like whites and colors. Use a multi-compartment laundry hamper to make this routine easy!
Hydrate
Don’t forget to drink plenty of water while cleaning and completing tasks for the new week. Keeping yourself hydrated has so many benefits, including those that impact your energy levels, skin appearance, and diet! It’s a pretty self-explanatory part of your routine but one that’s easy to forget if you’re busy. Use a motivational water bottle that has time stamps to keep yourself on track throughout the day. The one I use is an entire gallon, but there are of course smaller varieties available.
And, don’t forget to water your plants too!
Plan Your Meals For The Week
Are you one of those people that comes home from work and doesn’t know what to make for dinner so you order food or eat out? I was one of those people too until I started planning out my meals for the week and grocery shopping for those ingredients right away. Not only will you not have to think too hard about dinner, but you’ll be better at sticking to your budget. Make larger amounts of food for dinners so you can eat the leftovers for lunch or on another day for dinner!
One way to make this easier is to choose a theme ahead of time for each day of the week. For example:
- Monday: Pasta
- Tuesday: (Taco Tuesday!) Hispanic food
- Wednesday: Crockpot meal
- Thursday: casserole night
- Friday: Pizza
You could use the same themes every week or switch it up! Grocery shop for these ingredients right away so you don’t have to make any mid-week grocery runs.
Tidy Up Your Living Areas
Coming home at the end of the day to a clean home is so refreshing. Do a generalized pick-up of your kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, dining room, bedroom, and living room. Anything that’s been sitting out, put it back in its designated home. Clear off your countertops and dining table to ensure there’s a clean slate for the coming week. Sweep and mop your floors for a nice clean feeling under your feet. Scrub your tub and toilet out. Pretty much anything that needs attention, tackle it!
Let In Some Fresh Air
If the weather allows, open some windows and let in a breeze of fresh air! This is something I often forget but it really helps to refresh the spaces in your home. And, if time allows, spend some time outside! Go for a walk or even just bask in the sunshine. There are so many mental health benefits to spending time outside. Refreshing for the week by taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your living space. I always feel so much better after taking even half an hour to breathe in some fresh air.
Choose a Task You’ve Been Meaning To Do, And Get It Done!
Is there a photo you’ve been meaning to hang? A plant you’ve been meaning to re-pot? A wall that needs a touch-up on paint? Sometimes we put off tasks that only would take us 10-minutes to complete. Whenever I’m having a reset day, I choose one task I’ve been putting off and accomplish it. Not only is it checked off my to-do list, it makes me feel like I spent the day being productive. By doing one of these tasks at least weekly, you’ll be caught up in no time!
Do Your ‘Everything Shower’ Routine
Do a hair mask or scalp treatment to focus on your hair health! Exfoliate your skin and shave using a high-quality razor. Don’t forget your best-smelling moisturizing body wash! After your shower, moisturize with your favorite lotion or body cream. You won’t regret taking the extra time to do a little self-care. It will leave you smelling good and feeling smooth for the week ahead! If you want to feel a little extra special, put your towel in the dryer for a few minutes beforehand so it will be nice and warm when you go to dry off.
Some of my favorite “Everything Shower” items are linked below:
Practice Self-Care
What makes you feel good and gives your life meaning? For some it’s exercising or eating a healthy meal. For others it’s vegging out on the couch for a few hours watching your favorite show. Take a little time on this reset day to really take the time to do the things you love. You’ll feel so much better, like you actually spent time for yourself! This is a difficult one to practice when you feel like there’s so much more you could do to be productive. However, As we discussed earlier, your mental health is important so don’t forget to take care of you!
Look At The Week Ahead
Does your work schedule fluctuate from week to week? Mine does. So, I always look at what my schedule is going to be for the upcoming week. Even if your schedule doesn’t fluctuate too much, be sure to check for any appointments you may have scheduled. If you have some free time during the week, try to get together with a friend for coffee or plan a special date night with your significant other! By looking at your schedule weekly, you can really make sure your time is spent doing the things you really WANT to be doing. If there are things in your schedule that don’t bring you joy, work on doing less of those things in the coming weeks. Don’t forget to schedule your next weekly reset!
Review Your Budget
I’m going to be very real here. There are several weeks I go over my budget or spend way too much money on things I didn’t really need. By looking at your budget weekly you’ll be able to stop the excessive spending way before the month is over. Check your bank balances if you use online banking.
Tip: Make a spreadsheet of your weekly spending to watch where your money is going from week to week.
Don’t forget to pay any bills that aren’t on autopay! Having one set day where you take care of this will ensure there’s no anxiety about late bills during the coming week.
Take It Easy
Don’t exhaust yourself preparing for the week ahead! Take the time to relax with your family and watch a movie or play a game after a long day. You’ve accomplished so much during this reset day, it’s time to reward yourself! Eat a special treat, read a book, or watch a few episodes of your current favorite show. You deserve it!
I hope this weekly reset routine was helpful as you plan for your week. Don’t forget to share this routine with your friends through social media. Leave a comment below if you can think of anything I missed!
